Salem School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Salem is August 29. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Salem School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

• 8/24 - 8/28: Teacher In-Service
• 8/29: First Student Day

September

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)

October

• 10/9: No School (Columbus Day)
• 10/11: Early Dismissal

November

• 11/9: No School for Students (Teacher In-Service)
• 11/10: No School (Veterans Day)
• 11/23 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving Recess)

December

• 12/6: Early Dismissal
• 12/25 - 1/1: No School (Holiday Vacation)

January

• 1/1: No School (Holiday Vacation)
• 1/15: No School (Martin Luther King Day)
• 1/16: No School for Students (Teacher In-Service)

February

• 2/7: Delayed Opening (Professional Development)
• 2/26 - 3/2: No School (Winter Vacation)

March

• 3/1 - 3/2: No School (Winter Vacation)
• 3/19: No School for Students (Teacher In-Service), Make-up Day (if necessary)

April

• 4/11: Delayed Opening (Professional Development)
• 4/23 - 4/27: No School (Spring Vacation)

May

• 5/9: Early Dismissal
• 5/28: No School (Memorial Day)

June

• 6/12: Last Day for Students, Early Release
• 6/25: Make-up Day or Teacher In-Service if Necessary
