Salem Teacher Wins NH CTE Teacher Of Year Award

Salem High School teacher Janine Parent has won the state's Career and Technical Education Teacher of the Year Award.

SALEM, NH — Salem High School teacher Janine Parent was honored last week with the state's first Career and Technical Education Teacher of the Year award. The award recognizes those who have made significant contributions toward programs promoting career and technical education. Parent, a registered nurse, has taught health science and technology at Salem High School for the past 15 years.

According to the Salem School District website, Parent has a nursing diploma from the Concord Hospital School of Nursing and has spent more than 25 years working as an intensive care unit nurse. In that role, she worked in patient care and as a mentor to student nurses. At Salem High School, she now serves as the licensed nursing assistant instructor for the Health Science and Technology Program. She also works part-time at Eliot Hospital in the outpatient surgical department.
