Selectmen Want to Tap Canobie Lake

If granted, town residents would be able to utilize Canobie Lake as a drinking water source.

Salem Selectmen recently voted to ask the state to lift a 17-year-old order that prohibits the town from using Canobie Lake as a drinking water source, according to the Eagle Tribune.

The daily newspaper reported the selectmen are seeking to lift the ban from the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services in Concord on the grounds that the town has made sufficient improvements to its water system that would not affect Canobie Lake's water levels.
