Tree Crushes Roof Of Derry Condo, Firefighters Rescue Residents

Occupants escaped a 3-unit condo after a tree crashed on the building's roof causing heavy damage. One person was taken to the hospital.

DERRY, NH — High wind gusts brought down trees and power lines across New Hampshire.

Derry fire and police responded to 107 Franklin St. Extension for a large tree that hit a house with people trapped inside.

When firefighters arrived, they found several occupants still in the building and some self-evacuating. Derry fire began to search the condo units and rescued several people safely from the building. Gas and power were immediately shut off to the building.

The Derry Fire Department confirmed one resident was injured in the incident and taken to Parkland Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials are working to find alternative living accommodations until the buildings can be made safe.
