WEATHER UPDATE: Showers, Thunderstorms Possible in Salem
Residents can expect a lot of rain throughout the day Tuesday and into Wednesday.

Don’t forget to pack an umbrella if you plan on venturing outside today. Weather forecasters are expecting showers and thunderstorms throughout most of the day.
Showers are likely, then possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m., some of which could produce heavy rain, according to the National Weather Service. Weather forecasters are calling for an 90 percent chance of rain. The high temperature is expected to be near 72 degrees.
The chance of showers and thunderstorms will continue into Tuesday night, with both possible before 11 p.m. A chance of showers will follow between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. There is an 80 percent chance of precipitation, according to the NWS.
