Windham Crash Leaves Two Seriously Injured And Several Poles Down

One victim flown by DHART, one transported to Parkland Medical Center after activating a trauma team

WINDHAM, NH - On August 21, 2020 at 4:06 pm Windham Fire and Police responded to North Lowell Road between Jackman Ridge Road and Bedros Roads for a single vehicle crash.

Windham Fire Chief McPherson and Windham Ambulance arrived and found a full size pick-up truck off into the woods with heavy passenger side damage along with damage to the entire windshield.

Chief McPherson said the vehicle had hit utility poles causing extensive damage two occupants remained in the vehicle.

Upon evaluation, McPherson said "it was determined that there was a male driver and a female passenger. Both appeared to be unrestrained. The female passenger was in and out of consciousness and the male driver was unresponsive. Due to the severity of damage and the condition of the patients, an additional ambulance was requested"

DHART medical helicopter was to meet the Windham ambulance at the landing zone at Parkland Medical Center in Derry.

Windham Fire identified the passenger as Ann MacDonald, 65 of Derry, NH. She was flown by DHART to Lahey in Burlington, Mass.

The driver was identified as Christopher MacDonald, 61 of Derry, NH. Windham fire said "Mr. MacDonald was the driver and unresponsive. He also had no obvious external injuries. He was extricated from the vehicle, packaged and transported to Parkland Medical. Based on severity of damage and patients level of consciousness, a Trauma Team Activation was requested."

Eversource was notified for damages to multiple poles later identified to have been struck by this vehicle. North Lowell Road was closed by Windham Police while a request from the Derry Police Department Accident Reconstruction Unit were called to assist.

The accident remains under investigation by the Windham Police Department
