Wreaths Will be Laid to Honor Veterans at Pine Grove Cemetery on Monday

Wreaths Across America prepares for annual ceremonies for veterans buried at Arlington National Cemetery and over 1,100 other cemeteries.

SALEM, NH — On Saturday, volunteers working on behalf of Wreaths Across America planned to lay wreaths on the headstones of veterans. But due to the weather forecast, the ceremony at Pine Grove Cemetery in Salem will be held on Monday, Dec. 19, 2016 at 2 p.m., according to the organizers.

Pine Grove Cemetery is one of more than 1,100 sites honoring veterans, according to Wreaths Across America’s website. The largest ceremony will take place at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. In 2015, the organization raised enough support through volunteers, sponsors and donations to cover all 240,185 headstones at Arlington, and more than 901,000 nationwide, according to its website.

This year, 85 of 1,501 wreaths have been sponsored at Pine Grove Cemetery. You can learn more about the program, donate, or volunteer on Wreaths Across America’s website.
