$1,500 Reward for Information Leading to Arrest In Somerset County Shooting
A 21-year-old gunshot victim and potential witnesses are not cooperating with Police. Investigators are searching for clues.

Somerset County Detectives are searching for clues in a neighborhood shooting that seriously injured one victim Tuesday afternoon. Police are offering a $1,500 reward for information leading to an arrest. The victim and potential witnesses at the scene are not cooperating with investigators.
Somerville Police were notified by emergency personnel at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Somerset that they were treating a 21-year-old-male for a gunshot wound to his hip and leg, Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano stated.
Somerville Officers responded to the hospital to speak with the patient shortly atfer 1:45 p.m. Tuesday. Detectives discovered that the victim was shot near Second and Center Streets in Somerville and was then transported to the hospital by taxi with non-life threatening injuries.

Minutes after responding to the hospitl, Somerville Police received a 9-1-1 call from a Second Street resident who reported hearing shots being fired in the neighborhood, Soriano Stated. Somerville Police found spent bullet shell casings on the ground at the scene.

Potential witnesses and the victim, the intended target of the shooting, are not cooperating with Police, Prosecutor Soriano stated. As a result, Police are working without a description of the suspect or information on a possible motive for the crime.
Officers and detectives went house to house to ensure that no additional victims were injured as a result of this event. Two bullets traveled into the structure of two separate residences. No additional victims were reported.

The Crime Stoppers of Somerset County, Inc. is offering a reward of $1,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual responsible for this shooting incident.

Detectives from the Somerville Police Department, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Squad, and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Crime Scene Investigations and Forensics Unit responded to conduct the investigation.
