2 Hospitalized After Head-On Crash In Basking Ridge

A Mendham man was driving a Porsche south on Mt. Airy Road when he crossed over the center double yellow line into oncoming traffic: Police.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Two drivers were hospitalized following a head-on crash on Mt. Airy Road in Basking Ridge on Sunday night.

At around 9:20 p.m. a 69-year-old man from Mendham was driving a Porsche south on Mt. Airy Road when he crossed over the center double yellow line into oncoming traffic, reported Bernards Township Police Officer James Moore.

The Porsche hit a Honda Accord, being driven by a 59-year-old woman from Bernardsville, head-on near Stacey Lane, Moore said.

The crash caused the Porsche to overturn and the Honda to spin around 180 degrees. Both vehicles stopped after hitting the curb on opposite sides of Mt. Airy Road, Moore said.

The Mendham man had multiple injuries including numerous scrapes and cuts along with a fracture of the right hand. The Bernardsville woman had major back pain and cuts to her hands. Both were taken to Morristown Medical Center.

The Mendham man told Moore he was driving towards I-287 and does not remember anything else from the crash.

The Bernardsville woman said she was driving below the speed limit when the Porsche crossed over the center double yellow line before hitting her.

The Mendham man was issued a summonses for careless driving.
