Basking Ridge Cancels Charter Day Amid Coronavirus Outbreak
"While this is a disappointment to us all, I'm afraid that it is simply untenable to have this celebration this year," Mayor Baldassare said
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Bernards Township has cancelled Charter Day due to the ongoing new coronavirus outbreak.
The annual festival has been held for the past 25 years and the 2020 festival set in May was to celebrate the township's 260th Anniversary.
"While this is a disappointment to us all, I'm afraid that it is simply untenable to have this celebration this year given the now uncertainty of where we will be come May. While our situation may improve by this time, the amount of time and work that goes into getting this event together is extensive and something the current circumstances do not allow for at this moment. We will look forward to making next year's event even more special," Mayor Jim Baldassare said.
