Basking Ridge Park to Host After School Science Program for Kids
KinderNats will take children ages 5 to 7 outdoors this February in Lord Stirling to learn about nature with hikes, actvities and more.

The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center in Basking Ridge has opened registration for February KinderNats, an after school science and nature program for children age 5 to 7 enrolled in kindergarten and first grade.
KinderNats will take children outdoors to explore that natural world found at Lord Stirling Park. Each session will include a lesson, a hike, and fun activities that relate to seasonal changes throughout the year.
The sessions are scheduled for Mondays, Feb. 2, 9, and 23, with each session running from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. Classes will not meet on President’s Day, Feb. 16.

The fee for the three-day session is $18 per person. Registrations and payment may be made online at, in-person at the Environmental Education Center, via mail, or by telephone (if using a credit card) at 908-766-2489. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center is located within Lord Stirling Park, in Basking Ridge and is nestled within 450 acres of the western portion of the Great Swamp Basin of the Passaic River. A swamp vivarium, and an environmentally based library are located within the Center itself.

Donations Welcome
Blue “BOBO (Buy One-Bring One) Fridays” bins now are located at the Environmental Education Center and Lord Stirling Stable in Basking Ridge, as well as at the Somerset County Park Commission headquarters at North Branch Park in Bridgewater.
The public is invited to drop off canned food or personal-care items for donation to Somerset County food banks.
