Basking Ridge Podiatrist Dies At Age 71

Dr. Alan Seth Lewis "was known for his lively personality and ability to make anyone smile and laugh."

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Dr. Alan Seth Lewis, 71, of Basking Ridge died on April 2, 2020. He was born on April 26, 1948 in New York, New York, to the late Max E. and Mildred G. Lewis of Great Neck, New York.

Alan is survived by his daughters Brianna C. Lewis of Tampa, Florida and Mikaela B. Lewis of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and stepdaughter Heather K. Clark of Baltimore, Maryland.

Alan graduated from New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 1976. He was an active and admired Doctor of Podiatric Medicine for 43-plus years, leading many advancements in Podiatric Medicine in the Northern New Jersey area. He was a leader and innovator for podiatry, supporting the development of the first hospital-affiliated Podiatric Medicine Department in New Jersey.

Alan also helped launch the Western Division of New Jersey Podiatric Medical Society (NJPMS), remaining a Trustee throughout his time in practice. He was a long time delegate to the American Podiatric Medical Association and an active leader within NJPMS, taking on small and large roles during his tenure, including PPMC Board Member, Finance Committee Member, Awards Committee Chair, NJPMS Board Member, and most notably, President.

Alan was an avid golfer and loved to take his daughters and his friends to his favorite courses. One organization close to his heart was the Jonathan Robertozzi Foundation, serving many leadership roles over time. He looked forward to playing in their golf outing hosted every June. He was known for his lively personality and ability to make anyone smile and laugh. Alan will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.

Due to the current travel restrictions and risk of group gatherings, a memorial will take place at a later date. Contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Jonathan Robertozzi Foundation of NJPMS or the Chai Center for Jewish Life.
