Bernards Township Schools Set Delayed Openings as Bad Weather Rages On

Public schools will have a two-hour delayed start, as the Basking Ridge community battles ice, flash freezes, and snow.

Bernards Township public schools will have a two-hour delayed start Tuesday morning, as flash freeze conditions and cold winds surge across the area.

Temperatures will plummet Monday night, with lows around 9 degrees and wind chill values falling to 4 below zero, the NWS reports. Blustery wind gusts will reach 36 miles per hour tonight. The bitter cold will continue tomorrow, with highs around 21 degrees and wind chills as low as 3 below zero.

The National Weather Service says flash freeze conditions are expected across the state as sharply colder air surges back across New Jersey. Temperatures were expected to rapidly fall below freezing in areas that are currently above freezing, according to the police.
