Bernards Twp. Police To Wear Special Patch For Autism Awareness

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — During the month of April residents will see Bernards Township Police Officers sporting a special patch on their uniforms to raise awareness for children with autism during "Autism Awareness Month."

The patch, which is similar to the current department patch, will feature a colorful puzzle pattern which symbolizes the complexity of the autism spectrum, Bernards Township Police in conjunction with Bernards Township PBA Local #357 said.

The different colors and shapes will represent the diversity of the people and families living with the condition.

Additionally, PBA Local #357, which represents all of the officers of the police department, will be selling the limited edition patches to the public.

Patches are $10 and all proceeds will be donated by the PBA to the Bernards Parents for Exceptional Children (PEC) organization whose mission is to provide the support that families, educators, and community organizations need to help individuals with disabilities reach their full potential.

The men and women of the Bernards Township Police Department are proud to partner with this local foundation and to offer our support to raise awareness for those affected with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
