Cedar Hill School Closed, Hundreds Without Power After Ice Storm

The ice storm is still impacting the Basking Ridge area with hundreds without power, trees downed and Cedar Hill School closed.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The Basking Ridge area is still recovering from the ice storm that hit causing Cedar Hill School to close on Wednesday and hundreds of residents to continue to be without power.

Cedar Hill School closed on Wednesday due to a lack of heat and power, Bernards Township School District announced.

While all other schools opened on time some bus routes were impacted due to road closures.

Somerset Hills Regional School District also had a two hour delayed opening Wednesday as a result of the ice.

The following roads are closed Wednesday as crews continue to deal with downed trees caused by the ice:

  • Peachtree Road between Winding Lane and Homestead
  • Old Army Road
  • Childs Road at the Bernardsville end
  • Manchester Drive
  • Liberty Corner Road between Somerville Road and Douglas Road

Additionally JCP&L is reporting almost 800 residents are without power in Somerset County including 227 in Basking Ridge as of 10 a.m. Other towns affected include Bernardsville, Bridgewater, Bedminster, Far Hills, Hillsborough, Peapack and Gladstone and Warren.

Power is expected to restored by 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, JCP&L is reporting.
