Critical Chance Of Fire Forecast For Somerset County Today

A combination of strong winds, low humidity and dry fuels has caused the National Weather Service to issue a Red Flag Warning for all of NJ

A Red Flag Warning has been issued for Tuesday, April 19 by the National Weather Service for all of New Jersey, including Somerset and Union counties.

On Monday, a Fire Weather Watch was issued and has now been upgraded to the warning.

"A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly due to a combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and dry fuels," the National Weather Service announced. "Any fires that develop may quickly get out of control and become difficult to contain."
