D'Andrea Nominated for NJ Dem State Cmte & Graner for Assembly 21
D'Andrea is among four Somerset County residents recently nominated at County convention while Graner nominated in Somerset and Union Cty.

BERNARDS TOWNSHIP, NJ – The Bernards Township Democratic Committee (BTDC) is pleased to announce Nancy D’Andrea, Chair Emeritus and 24-year township resident, has been nominated by the Somerset County Democratic Committee at their March 4 convention, to serve as a New Jersey Democratic State Committee Person. Members of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee help elect public officials at the federal, state, county and local levels.
D’Andrea, a founder of the BTDC and active in issues facing Bernards Township residents, is looking forward to serving. “I am honored to have been nominated for this position. I look forward to working with my fellow State Committee members to get Democrats elected up and down the ticket. I’d like to thank Peg Schaffer, Vice President of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee (NJDSC), for her leadership and guidance these past four years in helping Bernards Township give a voice to our Democrats and other residents who align with our values,” D’Andrea said.
“I’m absolutely thrilled Nancy has been selected for the NJDSC,” said Elizabeth Graner, Chair of the BTDC. “Nancy’s proven leadership, keen insight, and track record of serving our community makes her an incredible addition to the NJDSC. Bernards Township and the State of New Jersey will benefit from her invaluable contributions,” Graner added.
The other Somerset County residents selected to serve on the NJDSC include Mike Goldberg from Hillsborough, Roberta Karpinecz from Somerville, and Joel Shain from Benardsville.
Graner also stated she is “honored, humbled, and thrilled” to have received the endorsement of both Somerset and Union County Democratic leadership for the NJ LD-21 Assembly. “As the candidates who joined me in seeking the nod are truly impressive both personally and professionally, I see it as a true privilege to join State Senate candidate Joseph Signorello III and fellow Assembly candidate Anjali Mehrotra on the same line as Governor Murphy, County Commissioners Shanel Robinson and Sara Sooy, and those seeking election at the local level.”

Graner, who moved to Bernards Township from Rahway in 2016, got involved with the Bernards Township Democratic Committee and was named Chair last summer. She is an English teacher at Rahway High School, and was motivated to run as a result of inequities highlighted by fallout from the pandemic and the events of last summer.
“It’s time for a change in our District,” Graner said. “This is our year to turn LD-21 Blue.”
