BASKING RIDGE, NJ – July 4 is quickly approaching, which means it's time to find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you this Independence Day. We gathered up all the fireworks shows, parades and festivals happening in and around Basking Ridge so you can start planning now.
Although Somerset County's Fourth of July Festival has been canceled, here are some alternative events:
Field of Honor

In Bedminster the Friends of the Jacobus Vanderveer House are hosting its 5th annual Field of Honor. Flags will be on display through July 11. All dedications will be unveiled and celebrated through a virtual dedication ceremony. For more information visit jvanderveerhouse.org/field-of-honor-1.
Morristown

In Morristown, their annual reading of the Declaration of Independence will be moved from the Morristown Green to the comfort of your own home. Park rangers Eric Olsen and Tom Winslow will give some history around the Declaration and then read it as has been done in Morristown since 1776. It is scheduled to take place July 4 from 1 to 1:30 p.m. You can find more information on their website.
Cedar Grove
A handful of places in New Jersey have modified their fireworks to drive-in affairs or postponed them for the fall. For example, in Cedar Grove the annual fireworks display is scheduled for July 2, with a July 3 rain date, and is a drive-in event. The fireworks will be shot off from Panther Park but no one will be allowed on the field.
The Panther Park parking lot, both sides of Bradford Ave. street parking, Municipal Building parking lot and the O’Toole Community Center parking lot will be available for parking. Officials are also asking that those who can see from their homes to simply watch from there. You can see more on their website.
Florham Park
In Florham Park, there will be a car parade through the municipal complex on July 4.
State Fair Meadowlands
The State Fair Meadowlands, which normally has fireworks on July 3 and 4, is now running instead from July 23 through Aug. 9. When they update their schedule it will be here.
Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks
Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks are taking place on July 4 as usual, and will be shown on NBC. The store chain has not yet announced specifics.
Clark Fireworks
Clark is postponing their annual July 4th fireworks due to the coronavirus and social distancing rules to Labor Day weekend on Sunday, Sept. 6 with a rain date of Monday, Sept. 7.
Virtual Firecracker Four Miler and Fun Run
The Cranford Jaycees will host a Virtual Firecracker Four Miler and Fun Run for its 41st year on July 4th. Participants can run or walk the Firecracker Four-Miler, One Mile Fun Run, or Open Run at the location of your choice (following all safety regulations).
Runners can register at raceforum.com/fire-4. High school students and younger are $18 with a $2 processing fee, includes souvenir race shirt. Adults are $30 with $2 processing fee, includes souvenir race shirt, plus pint glass (limited to the first 400 entrants).
Register by June 22 to guarantee T-shirt pickup before the race.
All proceeds go towards the Jaycees Scholarship Fund and other beneficiaries from our general fundraising fund.
There will also be a livestream starting at 8:15 a.m. including the National Anthem and with the traditional canon blast at 9 a.m. to start the race.
Runners can submit their time for scoring and prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers, plus new categories.
