As a nonprofit, community benefit organization and a leader in Child Care and Summer Camp programs, Greater Somerset County YMCA works to bolster academic success among children, including those who have experienced learning loss during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Y operates School Age Child Care and Academic Support programs in 12 Somerset and Union County school districts. “At the Y, we proudly partner with school districts to improve the academic success and overall well-being of children. This grant will help us to address summer learning loss in our Summer Camp program and provide additional learning support in our School Age Child Care program,” said David Carcieri, President and CEO of Greater Somerset County YMCA. “We are so grateful for the philanthropic support of The Provident Bank Foundation, which allows us to deepen the impact within the communities we serve.”

The Y’s Child Care and Summer Camp programs are designed for academic enrichment by integrating activities focused on science, math, STEAM, art, crafts, music, outdoor play and even gardening. In the School Age Child Care programs children benefit from homework help and tutoring sessions, and the Summer Camp program is infused with character development, social skills and volunteerism.

“We are pleased to help further valuable initiatives put forth by local organizations who are working every day to strengthen the lives of residents in our communities,” said Samantha Plotino, Executive Director of The Provident Bank Foundation. “We will continue to provide support to these important organizations that have identified an immediate need in the community and the individuals they serve.”
