Historian Seeks Public's Help In Honoring 600-Year-Old Oak Tree
Basking Ridge lost its oldest resident four years ago. The Mr. Local History Project is collecting photos of the historic tree.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Four years ago, Basking Ridge lost its oldest resident. No one imagined the 600-year-old white oak tree would die within their lifetimes, but now the public has a chance to honor it.
The Mr. Local History Project asked the public for photos of the tree. The volunteer nonprofit preserves local history and promotes it on social media.

The historic oak tree died April 24-26, 2017 and was estimated at about 600 years old. The tree was the pride of Basking Ridge, situated in the middle of downtown to the right of the historic 1717 Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church. Here's more info from the Mr. Local History Project.
