Longtime Basking Ridge Local Is Remembered For Her Green Thumb
Susan Rockefeller Flanagan was always proud of her Basking Ridge home and garden which were "the creative expression of her artistry."

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The life of longtime Basking Ridge local Susan Rockefeller Flanagan, known for her love of gardening and green thumb, will be celebrated on Monday.
Flanagan died on Monday, Aug. 19. Services will be held on Aug. 26 at Galloway & Crane Funeral Home in Basking Ridge with visitation at 2 p.m. and service at 3 p.m.
Born and raised in Mt. Lakes to the late George and Helen Dietz Rockefeller. She held a variety of jobs including working at The Potwalloper, Bardy Farms, NJ Flower & Garden Show and The Home Depot in East Hanover.

Despite having a number of jobs, she often said "her favorite job was being a mom to her three children."
Flanagan lived in Basking Ridge for 55 years where she was proud of her home and gardens which are "the creative expression of her artistry."

"She was a generous and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her distinctive laugh and bright smile were her trademark. She was quick with a joke and could always make people laugh, making friends everywhere she went," her obituary stated.
Flanagan is survived by her children Carolyn (Charlie), Tim (Laura), and Katie (Jen); her grandchildren Sarah, Mark and Charlie “CJ”; her sister Claire Martin, her nieces and nephews, and many friends that are like family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Morris Habitat for Humanity.
