No Parade, But Memorial Day Service Set In Bernards Township

The Liberty Corner Fire Company will host a brief ceremony May 31.

LIBERTY CORNER, NJ — Although the parade remains sidelined, the Liberty Corner Fire Company will host a Memorial Day ceremony. The brief event takes place at 9:30 a.m. May 31 (Memorial Day) at the Liberty Corner Green.

Bernards Township's fire and rescue companies, the Township Committee and clergy will participate in the ceremony. The event will be available for viewing at libertycornerfire.org.

The township cancelled its larger May events — the Memorial Day parade and Charter Day — because of coronavirus protocols. New Jersey will cap outdoor events at 500 people starting Friday. Exceptions include weddings, funerals, religious and political activities and certain large venues with fixed seating.
