BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Meet Toby! He has been chosen as Patch's Pet Of The Week. Nominate your pet for Basking Ridge's Pet of the Week and winners will get a free treat bag from Woof Gang Bakery and Grooming!

"Toby is an 8-year-old Shepherd mix. He has oversized ears that he's never quite grown into, an eternal puppy face and a tremendous heart. We adopted him from Rogers Rescues when he was just a year old and have seen him blossom from a timid pup who was afraid of everything including school busses, rustling leaves, and even snowmen into a loyal, loving family member who wags not just his tail but his entire body to show how happy he is to see you.

Toby can be very goofy at times. He loves to run and play in the snow, but rain is another story... he does not like to get his feet wet. He doesn't mind when his mom dresses him up and takes silly pictures of him. He actually seems to enjoy it. Toby loves to eat and will do anything for a treat.

The only thing he loves more than food is spending time with his best pal, his dad. They do everything together. One of his favorite activities is going on long walks with his dad, especially when he decides he is done walking and dad carries all 40 pounds of him home. He is a very familiar sight at his human brother’s sporting events and enjoys his role as unofficial team mascot. He is recognized and greeted by name pretty much anywhere he goes and there is even a painting of him hanging on the wall of a local brewery.

He loves to hop into bed with his human brothers and lick their faces until they wake up and is always game for a snuggle on the couch, especially if there is a soft blanket and a warm lap involved. He has even been known to curl up with one of his feline siblings for a cozy nap in the sun. Toby loves to go for car rides; when he hears the jingle of car keys, it is almost impossible to say 'no' to his irresistible 'please take me with you' face. He makes a great copilot, never asking 'are we there yet' or complaining about the driver’s choice of music.

Participating in the Pet of the Week happenings is simple: submit your nomination by emailing alexis.tarrazi@patch.com with the subject line "Basking Ridge Pet Of The Week." Be sure to include a photograph or two of your pet, a paragraph about what makes him or her so great, the town you're from, and your name.

Then just keep an eye out for a photo of your pet on the Patch!

The photo can be of a present pet, or it can be a baby picture of the adult pet you're so proud of today. All photos must be the property of the submitter. By submitting a photo to Patch the submitter agrees to give permission for it to be published on Patch.

Additionally, selected winners each week will be given a free bag of Woof Gang dog or cat treats when they stop in Woof Gang Bakery and Grooming inside Bridgewater Towne Center at 732 US-202. And winners can also bring their pet into the store for a picture. Woof Gang Bakery will put them up on their social media page as well.
