BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Summer is just around the corner, and you may be planning now to find activities to keep the kids busy — and cool. An obvious summer favorite pastime is spending those hot afternoons at the local pool.

The state recently issued guidance for pools to follow, so they can safely operate during the coronavirus pandemic.

Somerset Hills YMCA, 140 Mount Airy Road in Basking Ridge, has an aquatics facility open for the whole family, from serious lap swimmers to toddlers. Pleasant Valley Pool, at 3405 Valley Rd. in Basking Ridge, will accept early-bird discounts for membership payments through Friday. The facility features a main pool with diving area, training pool with twist slide, water play area, a wading pool and splash area for children under 5, and shuffleboard and bocce courts.
