Ridge Student-Athletes Required To Sign Opioid Fact Sheet

William Annin Middle School and Ridge High School​ student athletes are required to sign an opiod fact sheet to participate in sports.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — William Annin Middle School and Ridge High School student athletes will now be required to sign an opiod use and misuse fact sheet as manadated by the state department of education.

Bernards Township Schools added the "The Opioid Use and Misuse Educational Fact Sheet" to its athletic registration packages for both the middle and high school.

The recently signed law requires student-athletes including cheerleaders, under the age of 18, and their parents to sign the fact sheet in order to particpate in sports starting this spring.

The sheet must be signed annually before the student’s first official practice of the school year.

"It is hoped that the Opioid Use and Misuse Educational Fact Sheet will serve as an informational and educational resource to student-athletes and parents of the inherent risks and dangers in the use and misuse of opioids," the school district stated in a letter to parents.

Both William Annin Middle School and Ridge High School have already incorporated the Opioid Fact Sheet into their electronic athletic registrations.
