Services Set For Former Basking Ridge Fireman, US Army Veteran
James J. Washburn​, 71, was a lifelong resident of Basking Ridge and served during the Vietnam War.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Funeral arrangements have been set for James J. Washburn, a former member of the Liberty Corner Fire Department and Basking Ridge Fire Department.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 1 at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 2 10 a.m. at St. James Church, 184 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge.

Washburn, 71, a lifelong resident of Basking Ridge, died on Sept. 27, 2018 at Pine Acres Nursing Home, Madison.
Washburn worked at Lyons VA hospital as a machine operator. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

"He loved farming and was a member of the Allis-Chalmer Tractor Club. He was a friend of Bill W," his Galloway & Crane obituary states.
He is survived by his loving wife Letitia Lum of 33 years. His children Joy Matranga and husband Christopher, and Jennifer Washburn. His only grandson Nathan Matranga. Also survived by his two sisters Joan De Boer and husband John, and Diane Simmons, and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donation may be made in his memory to Basking Ridge Fire Department or Liberty Corner Fire Department.
