Snow Piles Up In Basking Ridge, Freezing Temperatures Continue to Sink

If it’s not the ever-growing piles of snow, it’s the unbearable temperatures. And recently it’s been a relentless combination of both.
According to the National Weather Service, the Basking Ridge area received 3 inches of snow last night, piling on top of ice frozen snow packs that continue to prove hazardous for local residents.
In Somerset County, nearby Belle Mead received nearly 4 inches of snow, while Bridgewater only received 2.8 inches of new accumulation.

Bernards Township Public Schools were closed Tuesday due to mid-winter recess.
While the snow continues to mount and plows continue to navigate the area’s roadways, even colder temperatures are coming back to end the week.

Temperatures will only reach 24 degrees this afternoon as bitter cold winds whip through town. Basking Ridge will see more snow showers tomorrow after 1 p.m. with an accumulation of less than one inch of new snow during the day
Despite partly sunny skies, wind chill values will plummet to 6 below zero during the day, and 7 below Wednesday night. More snow will fall before midnight Wednesday with another half-inch accumulating in Basking Ridge.
The temperatures will remain below freezing through Saturday night, with highs near 16 and lows of -2 degrees on Thursday and Friday. Highs will reach 30 degrees on Saturday with more snow possible Saturday night and Sunday.
