Township Committee Member Joe Esposito to Resign

Is moving to South Carolina

TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE MEMBER JOE ESPOSITO TO RESIGN

BASKING RIDGE, NJ – On May 4, 2021 Bernards Township Committee person Joseph F. Esposito announced he would be resigning effective May 17, 2021.

Esposito noted that: “My resignation is bittersweet. On one hand I am leaving the town I love and have called home for 22 years. On the other hand, my family and I look forward to moving to South Carolina to be closer to relatives who need our help and support. For me and my wife, Debra, family always comes first.”

Mr. Esposito, who was elected in November of 2018, has served as Deputy Mayor since 2020 and serves on Bernards Township’s Library Board of Trustees, Sewerage Authority, Planning Board, and Police Subcommittee. “It has been an incredibly active and rewarding experience for me,” said Esposito. “I am immensely proud to have been part of the long tradition of fiscally conservative sound Republican governance that has kept Bernards Township a model community.”

During his tenure, Bernards Township successfully dealt with and met many challenges, including governing during a pandemic. “I am grateful to have served besides Mayors and Township Committee members that worked closely with our amazing Township leadership and staff to rise to the occasion and to serve our residents and to keep them informed during the COVID-19 Pandemic”. During his term, the Township Committee introduced reforms and programs that will pay dividends for our residents for years to come. Notable accomplishments were the establishment of a shared court system that will result in a perpetual annual savings for taxpayers, enforcing budget discipline, and the formation of numerous task forces and committees that increased transparency and community participation, enhanced Township communication methods, and created an avenue for open dialogue with the Diversity and Inclusion Committee. “We have a great Town, renowned for its outstanding quality of life. I leave Bernards Township in great shape and in good hands.”

Mr. Esposito, who was elected as a Republican, will be replaced according to the statuary process for filling such vacancies. The governing body, in this case the Bernards Township Committee, will fill Esposito’s unexpired term by selecting one of three individuals recommended by the Bernards Township Republican Municipal Committee.
