Troop 54, Liberty Corner, would like to announce one of our newest Eagle Scouts, Vince Taylor. Vince reached his goal of becoming an Eagle Scout after spending 6 years involved in Scouts. Vince started in Boy Scouts in 2015. The final step in reaching this goal was completing his Eagle Scout project.
Vince’s Eagle project was performed at the Ridge Baseball Complex. Vince chose this site because he has played baseball at the complex since he was 7 years old. The project involved building three durable plywood pitching mounds for use in the bullpens at the Complex. Vince with the assistance of his troop designed and created the mounds which included staining, carpeting and installing them .
When asked, Vince stated that the most important lessons he learned in Scouts are the leadership skills. Vince feels that leadership includes having the drive and determination to work as a team to achieve your goals. Through scouts he was able to teach other scouts how to work as a team. Vince thoroughly enjoyed the time he spent at Sabattis summer camp with Troop 54.
Vince’s parents, Bernadette and Kevin Taylor, state that Troop 54 gave Vince the opportunity to make new friends and learn a variety of skills that he will apply throughout his life. Scouting provides many unique character-building experiences. He enjoyed the campouts, competitions and other activities. A special thanks to the troop leaders, volunteers and parents for helping him achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.
Cameron Mays, another Eagle Scout from Troop 54, stated that Vince is a very hardworking and focused person. Even though he joined Scouts later than other kids his age, he had the goal of becoming an Eagle Scout from the start and he did everything to make that happen. Cameron stated that Vince is a good speaker and teacher, something that is incredibly valuable.
Outside of Scouts Vince plays Varsity Baseball for Ridge High School and has committed to Rutgers Newark. Vince is also a Black Belt in Taekwondo and involved with the St. James BOLD Youth Ministry.
