Water Main Break Impacts Basking Ridge Area Residents
NJ American Water customers may have reduced water pressure or discolored water during the repair, which is expected to take about 96 hours.
SOMERVILLE, NJ — New Jersey American Water is working to repair a 36-inch main break in Somerville which is impacting customers in the surrounding Basking Ridge area.
The water company sent out an urgent alert on Tuesday warning customers in the area to limit their water use to essential purposes only while repairs are made.
Customers may experience reduced water pressure and/or discolored water during the repair process, which is expected to take about 96 hours, according to NJ American Water.

"New Jersey American Water apologizes for this inconvenience and is working to resolve the issue as quickly and safely as possible," the water company said.
Customers are asked to eliminate outdoor water use such as irrigation or sprinkler watering of lawns, washing cars and filling of pools until further notice.

Customers affected include residents in parts of Belle Mead, Branchburg, Bridgewater, Cranbury, Far Hills, Flemington, Gladstone, Hillsborough, Jamesburg, Kingston, Lawrence, Manville, Montgomery, Peapack, Plainsboro, Pottersville, Princeton, Raritan Borough Raritan Township, Readington, Somerville, Tewksbury, Three Bridges, West Windsor, Whitehouse, Whitehouse Station, Bedminster and Bernards Township.
A notification when repairs have been completed will be sent out.
