Last month, we asked our Berkeley Patch readers for businesses that went above and beyond in 2020. Here are the places that rose to the top, according to Patch readers:

L Gourmet

“Laurie is the incredibly talented, passionate and hardworking owner of L Gourmet in Beachwood with a beautiful menu of freshly prepared selections for breakfast, lunch and dinner. My mom and I have been customers for a few years and order from L Gourmet regularly. During this pandemic, we probably order takeout several times a week...The staff is professional, courteous and friendly and the ambiance inside is really cozy and homey,” said customer Nan Owen.

Sand Castle Diner

“Pillar of our community, treats their customers like friends, good food, great service, the staff are like family. Just a place you would stay loyal to,” said customer Dorathy Perez.
