Route 9 Closures For Paving Start Wednesday Night In Berkeley
Lane closures will be in effect Wednesday night on Route 9 in Berkeley for road paving work, NJDOT officials said.
BERKELEY, NJ – Lane closures will be in effect Wednesday night in Berkeley for road paving work, New Jersey Department of Transportation officials said.
Beginning at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7 until 5:30 a.m. Thursday, NJDOT’s contractor Earle Asphalt will close one lane on Route 9 and use an alternating traffic pattern at Serpentine Drive.
On Thursday, July 8 from 9 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. Friday, one lane on Route 9 will be closed with alternating traffic at Lacey Road.

The closures both nights are required to repair damaged pavement, officials said.
Beginning Monday, July 12 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., daytime shoulder closures will be required Monday through Friday on Route 9 in both directions between Jones Road in Lacey and Longboat Avenue in Beachwood.

The closures will allow work to begin on ramps, sidewalks and curb upgrades, officials said. Electrical work also will be completed for traffic signal upgrades. The shoulder closures are expected to last about three months.
Overnight lane and ramp closures requiring an alternating traffic pattern are expected in the fall. The public will be notified in advance of any closures.
The project will improve more than eight miles of Route 9. Traffic signals will be upgraded or replaced at the following intersections:
· Sunrise Boulevard and Park Place Drive, Lacey
· First Street and Musket Road, Lacey
· Route 9 and Haines Street, Lacey
· Route 9 and Laurel Boulevard, Lacey
· Route 9 and South Street, Lacey
· Central Parkway and Butler Blvd/CR 618, Berkeley
· Station Road, Berkeley
· Iger Way and Moorage Avenue, Berkeley
· Korman Road and Ocean Gate CR 625, Berkeley
· Chain Boulevard, Berkeley (entrance to shopping center)
· Sylvan Lake Boulevard, Berkeley
· Motor Road and Gladney Avenue, Pine Beach
· Mizzen Avenue, Berkeley, Pine Beach
The $9.1 million improvements project includes lighting, construction of ADA compliant curbs and ramps, sidewalks, milling and paving on approximately eight miles of Route 9 between Jones Road in Lacey and Longboat Avenue in Beachwood.
Milling and paving is expected to begin next year. The project is anticipated to be complete by fall 2022, officials said.
The timing of the work may change due to weather or other factors.
