Bayville Man on Parole Indicted for Attempted Murder
Joseph H. Dougherty previously served time in prison for causing a drug-induced death in 2002

An Ocean County grand jury recently indicted a Bayville man on an attempted murder charge in connection with an Aug. 8, 2010 attack on two people at a home in Lacey Township.
Joseph H. Dougherty, 27, Spinnaker Court, also was indicted on charges of burglary, aggravated assault with a knife, illegal possession of a weapon and eluding police in relation to the attacks on Sean Stover and Ashley Hemlock at her home on Sea Bright Road in Lacey, according to the indictment.
Dougherty was on parole at the time of the Aug. 8 attacks. Superior Court Judge James A. Citta sentenced him to seven years in prison on Jan. 16, 2004, for causing the drug-induced death of James Corcoran on Sept. 17, 2002, at Corcoran's Bayville home. Citta also ordered that he serve 85 percent of the term, under the state's No Early Release Act, according to state Department of Corrections records.

Corcoran, 37, was found dead of a heroin overdose in his apartment in Berkeley on Sept. 17, 2002. Authorities said Dougherty dropped off several bags of heroin for Corcoran the previous weekend.
Dougherty was released from prison on Nov. 11, 2009. He was taken back into custody on Aug. 8, 2010, according to DOC records.

In other court-related matters, Kenneth Wilson, 45, and Roseanne Digilio, 52, both of Frederick Drive, Bayville, are scheduled to be sentenced this week for robbery and aggravated assault in Berkeley.
