Berkeley Man Dies After Crashing Into Pole: Police

Tracy Pierce succumbed to his injuries at Community Medical Center.

BERKELEY, NJ — A Berkeley man died after crashing into a pole Sunday afternoon, police said. Officials took Tracy Pierce to Community Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

The accident occurred at about 1 p.m. at the 100 block of Westbtook Road. The caller initially thought a pedestrian had been struck, but that wasn't the case, police said. Pierce, 59, had been ejected from the vehicle.

Pierce's Ford Mustang struck a utility pole and came to rest on the front lawn of a home, police said. Authorities performed life-saving measures before taking Pierce to the hospital.
