Berkeley Power Outages Amid Tropical Storm Fay

Tropical Storm Fay has already brought heavy rain to the Jersey Shore.

BERKELEY, NJ — Tropical Storm Fay has already brought heavy rain and some flooding to the Jersey Shore. Here's how Berkeley Township has prepeared.

The Public Works Department has been clearing and cleaning storm drains since Thursday, Mayor Carmen Amato told Patch. The Parks Department is on standby to deal with any downed trees in roadways and other infrastructural issues that may arise.

"I would also offer that those homeowners in low-lying areas that frequently flood should take precautions by moving vehicles to higher ground," Amato said.

The National Weather Service placed Ocean County under a flash flood warning until 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Jersey Central Power & Light reported 578 outages in Berkeley at 2 p.m. Friday. The company expected power back by 4:30 p.m.
