2 Die In Berkeley Rt. 9 Crash, Victims Identified
A driver and a cyclist were killed in the crash.
BERKELEY, NJ — A driver and a cyclist died Monday afternoon in a Route 9 crash. Officials identified the victims as Jeffrey Martin, of Bayville, and Frank Brooks, of Beachwood.
The crash occurred just south of Sylvan Lakes Boulevard. Martin, 41, was traveling southbound on Route 9 when his vehicle crossed the centerline, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.
His vehicle hit Brooks, 31, who was riding a bicycle on the shoulder of the northbound lane. Martin and Brooks were pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
The crash closed Route 9 in Berkeley south of Motor Road in Pine Beach for several hours. The Ocean County Sheriff's Office announced the crash at 1:48 p.m. Monday.
