Coronavirus Cases Confirmed At The Bayville School
The Berkeley Township School District announced cases at Berkeley Elementary earlier this week.
BERKELEY, NJ — Officials confirmed coronavirus cases within the Bayville School, Superintendent Dr. James D. Roselli announced Thursday. The entire school will undergo a deep cleaning, but no closure was announced.
"There is nothing you need to do at this time," Roselli said in a letter to parents and guardians. Please note that anyone identified to be in close contact with the individuals has already been notified personally by telephone prior to this letter."
It was not immediately clear how many cases were confirmed. The Berkeley Township School District is working with the health department as they conduct an investigation.

State officials have reported three COVID-19 outbreaks in Ocean County schools as of Thursday. Publicly available state data does not clarify in which schools outbreaks have occurred.

"Outbreaks" indicate two or more laboratory-confirmed cases among students or staff within a 14-day period. They must be epidemiologically linked in the school setting, not share a household and not identify as close contacts of each other in another setting.
The Ocean County Health Department has reported 932 cases and 104 coronavirus deaths in Berkeley since the pandemic began.
