Dr. Parlapanides Receives Honorary Degree
At Georgian Court University's 107th Annual Commencement Ceremony, Dr. Triantafillos Parlapanides was awarded an honorary degree
At Georgian Court University’s 107th Annual Commencement Ceremony on May 24, 2018, Dr. Triantafillos Parlapanides, Superintendent of the Central Regional School District, was awarded an honorary degree, Doctor of Educational Administration. Georgian Court President, Dr. Joseph R. Marbach, sent a notice to the superintendent in February informing him of his nomination for the honor.
Dr. Marbach writes, “As an alumnus of Georgian Court, you exemplify the Mercy core values of compassion, service, respect, integrity, and justice. Your accomplishments at Central Regional High School have helped thousands of students transform their lives through education. Your commitment to a strong and lasting partnership with Georgian Court University has served as a model for university partnerships, which are helping the university achieve even greater success. We believe that you live Mercy, through your passion and many years of service.”
Dr. Parlapanides has a doctorate from Seton Hall University, a Master of Arts in Administration and Leadership from Georgian Court, and a Bachelor of Science from Villanova University. He taught science at the Central Regional Middle School prior to taking a position at Egg Harbor Township Middle School then served as a principal at Shore Regional High School. He returned to Central Regional Middle School as principal for 6 years before being promoted to Superintendent of the Central Regional School District in 2008.

Dr. Parlapanides has transformed Central into one of the most dynamic educational districts in Ocean County. His innovative and outside the box thinking has afforded the district the ability to provide premier opportunities in education to students such as the Humanities Academy, a partnership with Georgian Court University, the Digital Media Academy, the Eagle Leadership Academy, and the Army JROTC Program. Central Regional was the first high school in Ocean County to sign up for the New Jersey Interdistrict Public School Choice Program in 2011 which allows students from other school districts to attend Central Regional with tuition paid by the State. This program has allowed Dr. Parlapanides to improve education, facilities and offer diverse programs giving students and staff the tools for success.
