Island Beach State Park Hoped For 200 Trees; They Got 2K
A post-Christmas miracle: Island Beach State Park received more than 2,000 donated trees to improve its dune system.

ISLAND BEACH STATE PARK, NJ — It's a post-Christmas miracle. Island Beach State Park hoped to receive 200 new trees to improve its dune system. The park received more than 2,000.
IBSP will need volunteers at 8 a.m. Saturday to help place the trees onto the dunes. Click here to register.
The park asked the public last month for donations of old Christmas trees. The trees capture blown sand, helping it grow into a dune faster than it would naturally. Then beaches typically fence in the dunes to keep pedestrians away and trap sand.
