Local Businesses Help Build Affordable Home In Berkeley
The construction of Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity's new home in Berkeley was made possible with the help of local businesses.

BERKELEY, NJ — Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity recently raised the walls on its 20th affordable home in Ocean County.
The home’s owner, Nicole Abreu, along with Northern Ocean Habitat board members, volunteers and sponsor representatives lifted the walls together to begin the framing of the home on June 7.
The Berkeley home is being built through a partnership with the township and will be completed with the help of local businesses, including Chap Construction, Woodhaven Lumber and Millwork, Carl’s Roofing, Ben Franklin Plumbing, One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning, Christone Electrical, Ferguson, Kiely, KRFC Kitchens Baths and Floors, Jersey Coast Appliance, Family First Funding, Russo Seamless, United Site Services and Lowe’s, as well as volunteers from the community.

“I am grateful for the support of our local businesses that said yes when we came to them for help to build our 20th home,” said Kristine Novakowski, executive director of Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity.
Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit housing ministry that brings people together to build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter in northern Ocean County. To date, the Northern Ocean County affiliate has completed 19 new affordable homes, 60 Hurricane Sandy critical home repairs and over 280 home repairs.

Northern Ocean Habitat also operates the ReStore, a furniture and home goods thrift store at 1214 Route 37 East in Toms River.
