Man Choked And Robbed Uber Driver, Assaulted Cops In Berkeley: PD
The man assaulted the driver and took money from his pockets, according to police.
BERKELEY, NJ — A man assaulted and robbed an Uber driver before assaulting and threatening police Sunday morning in Berkeley, according to authorities. Officers found Julian Scara after he choked the driver and stole money from his pockets, police said.
Berkeley police responded to the robbery call at 3:32 a.m. Sunday in the Holiday City section of Berkeley. The victim told police he picked up his fare in Bayville to bring the customer to his home in Holiday City.
As they neared the destination, Scara assaulted the driver and robbed him, police said. The victim left the area and called police. He sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment.

A police investigation included a search warrant and interviews, leading them to Scara. The 32-year-old was charged with robbery, four counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement, simple assault, three counts of resisting arrest, theft and terroristic threats.
Officials took Scara to the Ocean County Jail, but he is no longer listed in the inmate database.
