A "Must Not Miss" program on Teen Drinking and Substances Use
"Truth & Consequence: Real-World Discussion on Teen Substance Abuse and Under Age Drinking" at Toms River Library, November 14th @ 6:30 pm.
Substance use and drinking are some of the biggest issues parents and caregivers of teens are likely to face.
The Toms River Branch of the Ocean County Library will host “Truth & Consequences: A Real-World Discussion about Teen Substance Use & Underage Drinking”at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14.
Attendees will walk through a mobile teen bedroom and learn about what to look for to discover signs of substance abuse, rising vaping trends and marijuana use among youth will be discussed, and parent legal liability in underage drinking and the Good Samaritan Law will be explained.
The evening will include 3 interactive and informative programs:

- "What To Look For" - Prevention Specialists, Camden County/ Winslow Twp. Police Officers Chris Dubler and Steve Pearson, will guide the audience through a mobile staged teen age bedroom to help discover signs of substance abuse.
- The Vaping Trend - The DART Coalition will share the facts about vaping and teach you to ID the devices and paraphernalia.
- Parent Liability - The Toms River Township Police Department will discuss parental legal liability and the Good Samaritan Law, which would surprise most.
- Sandwiches and refreshments will be served and questions will be taken at the end of the evening. Doors open at 6 p.m.
This informative FREE program is highly suggested for parents, grandparents,teens, volunteers, and professionals. Professionals will receive 2 hours of Professional Development Hours. For more information and to register click here.
The branch is located at 101 Washington Street. Free parking is available after 5 p.m. on the street or in the top level of the parking deck behind the library.
