After Isaias, Crews Continue Working To Restore Power In Berkeley
Jersey Central Power & Light does not yet have an estimated restoration time.

BERKELEY, NJ — Many around Berkeley have regained power since Tropical Storm Isaias tore through. But Jersey Central Power & Light continues to work on restoring electricity for 2,893 customers as of Wednesday evening.
More than 10,000 lost power as the storm passed through Tuesday, while nearly 4,000 still didn't have it Wednesday morning.

"Crews are working as quickly as they can," said Mayor Carmen Amato. "The biggest issue they are dealing with is the downed trees on wires."
JCP&L is offering free water and ice to those without service. Local pickup locations include ShopRite in Bayville.

Three-thousand JCP&L workers are working to assess damage and restore power for about 569,000 customers, the company said at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Around 753,000 of their customers lost power during the storm.
Berkeley Township's wind peaked at 66 mph Tuesday, according to the Rutgers Weather Network, which tracks data from about 60 stations around the state. The figure totals the third-highest mark at their stations, behind only Fortescue (71 mph) and Lower Alloways Creek (68 mph).
The National Weather Service spotted a tornado Tuesday morning in Barnegat and placed Berkeley under a tornado warning. Tropical Storm Isaias brought down trees and caused significant damage to parts of Berkeley, destroying a dugout and toppling the bleachers at the Little League complex.

Officials kept county parks closed Wednesday because of storm damage, including Mill Creek County Park. Berkeley Island County Park is open to the public but doesn't have electricity, so the bathrooms and spray park aren't available.
