New Dog Salon And Spa To Open In Berkeley
Serenity Dog Salon & Spa opens next Friday on Route 9.
BERKELEY, NJ — Katie McMahan has groomed dogs for almost her entire life. Her aunt owns Pet Impressions in Lanoka Harbor, so McMahan began by sweeping the floor at age 9 and learning from there.
Once she shaved her first dog — a cocker spaniel — she was hooked. McMahan is a week away from opening her own grooming service in Berkeley: Serenity Dog Salon & Spa.
Serenity opens next Friday at 92 Atlantic City Blvd. She will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, providing a walkthrough for the new salon. Attendees can enjoy some refreshments, receive a coupon, enter a raffle and even book an appointment.

The address used to be the location of vape shop Pine Beach Vapor. McMahan said the salon will look quite different.

"We totally gutted out the place," she said. "...It want it to feel like home."
Serenity will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and Friday to Saturday. Costs will depend on the dog's breed, size and coat, McMahan said.
"They’ll just have to call, let me know what kind of dog they have and then we can start from there," she said.
