Statewide Flash Flood Watch, 30-MPH Winds In NJ Weather Forecast

Here's what to expect on this holiday weekend.

New Jersey should brace for severe weather now that showers and some thunderstorms – some of them heavy – are expected to move across the state late Friday and through Saturday morning, according to the Nation Weather Service. Winds exceeding 30 mph are possible.

A flash flood watch and a hazardous weather outlook were issued for all New Jersey since 1 to 2 inches of rain are expected, with some local amounts reaching 3 inches, according to the NWS.

A flash flood watch means that there is the potential for flash flooding that can be life-threatening, according to the NWS. Heavy rain is expected to occur over a short period of time.
