Terrific Weather For Last Beach Weekend On Long Beach Island

This is the last weekend beaches will be guarded for the 2018 season.

LONG BEACH ISLAND, NJ - This is it, folks. It's the last weekend beaches will be guarded here this season.

So take advantage of the beautiful weather. Skies will be sunny. But it will be cool, with highs only in the lower 70s. Winds will be from the northwest at 5 miles per hour. There is no lightning threat.

There's a moderate risk of rip currents. Check with the beach patrol for any problem areas before heading into the water. Never, ever, swim on an unguarded beach and never swim alone or at night. The National Weather Service advises swimmers to always have a flotation device with them.

Waves will be fairly calm, around 2 feet, with southeast swells of 2 feet. The ocean water temperature is 71 degrees. The ultraviolet index is a 5, which the NWS considers moderate.

Here are the few beaches on LBI that are still guarded through the weekend:

Ship Bottom will have daily coverage at the 7th, 15th and 20th streets through Sept. 30.

Harvey Cedars The Middlesex Avenue beach will be guarded through Sunday, Sept. 30. If the weather holds up, the 80th Street beach may be guarded as well.

High tide arrived at 11:04 a.m. Low tide will roll in at 5:48 p.m., followed by another high tide at 11:38 p.m.
