If you had outdoor plans for Thursday evening, you might want to reschedule them.

The National Weather Service’s Mount Holly office has issued a hazardous weather alert for Berkeley and Ocean County for this afternoon into this evening.

Strong damaging winds in excess of 60 mph, with the possibility of tornadoes, are the main threat, the service said, labeling it “an escalated risk of tornado activity.” Heavy rain also is possible, which could cause flooding in some areas.
