2 Home Intrusions In Bloomfield; Handgun, BB Gun Involved: Police
A pair of separate home intrusions took place in Bloomfield. One person had a handgun, the other a BB gun, police said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A pair of home intrusions were recently reported in Bloomfield, authorities said Tuesday.
According to the Bloomfield Police Department, the first incident took place on April 26, when officers responded to an apartment building on the 900-block of Broad Street.
A resident of the building told officers that a man squatting in a vacant apartment upstairs kicked her door in and demanded a phone charger. When she refused, he pulled what appeared to be a black handgun from his waistband and threatened her, then fled the apartment, police said.

As the officers were talking to the victim, the man – later identified as Shakur Burgess, 20, of Bloomfield – returned to the scene, authorities said.
When police ordered Burgess to stop, he ran away. Officers gave chase on foot, but eventually lost sight of him, authorities said.

Bloomfield police were eventually able to apprehend Burgess when he returned to the area again several minutes later. Police recovered a “BB-style gun” after a brief search, authorities stated.
Burgess was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and resisting arrest.
GARNER AVENUE
On April 28, another home intrusion took place in Bloomfield, police said.
According to the Bloomfield Police Department, officers responded to the area of Garner Avenue after getting a report about a man that entered a home.
Police said the man – later identified as Brian Neumann, 43, of Mahwah – entered a residence, demanded to use the phone, then walked out of the house.
Patrol units and state troopers located and apprehended Neumann, finding him in possession of a handgun. He was charged with burglary and weapon offenses, authorities said.
