2 Suspects Accused Of 40 Tire, Rim Thefts In Essex County

Police in Bloomfield and West Orange arrested two people who allegedly victimized car owners across Essex County, authorities said.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Police in Bloomfield and West Orange arrested two people accused of carrying out more than 40 tire and rim thefts throughout Essex County.

On Thursday, police in the two towns released a joint statement about their investigation, which resulted in the arrest of two suspects: Wadner Ettienne and Shantau Brown.

Ettienne and Brown lived together on Kling Street in West Orange, police said. Both have been charged with two counts of theft and one count of conspiracy.

After the two departments shared information, search warrants were issued for Ettienne and Brown’s residence. Police seized unspecified “evidence” during their early morning search on Jan. 15.

Bloomfield Public Safety Director Samuel DeMaio said the pair are allegedly responsible for thefts in Bloomfield, as well as other towns throughout the county.

The Bloomfield Public Safety processed Ettienne and Brown, who were then transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark.

“These partnerships with local police departments allow us to share information and work together to make our communities safer,” West Orange Police Chief James Abbott said.
