57-Year-old Woman Robbed While Waiting for the Bus, Police Say

Bloomfield police reported that a 57 year old Newark woman was robbed on Glenwood Ave. on Thursday, Sept. 19 by a man believed to be armed with a gun.

Police said two men approached the woman at 9:20 pm while she waited at a bus stop. Police said the men asked her if she was waiting for the bus and stood with her as if they were waiting for the bus too after she said she was.

After about five minutes, one of the men reportedly pointed an object, believed to be a gun, through his clothing at the victim and the second man pushed a metallic object, also believed to be a gun, against the victim and grabbed her purse without saying a word.

Police said the robbers ran up Evergreen Ave. to an awaiting vehicle, which was too far away for the victim to describe, that turned onto Ashland Ave. Police said the robbery was reported too late for them to search the area.

The robbers are described as a two black men. The first is said to be in his 20s, 5’10” tall, thin build and last seen wearing an orange hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. The other is described as in his 30s, six feet tall and heavy set.
